Over the course of Fang Yuan's life and rebirths, he has come in to contact with numerous paths, some of which he started to actively cultivate and increase his attainment in them.
Attainment levels start with ordinary followed by Master, Grandmaster, Great Grandmaster, and Supreme Grandmaster. In between those levels are sub-levels which are called quasi-attainment level, for example, quasi-master. But there are also 'levels' like nonexistent attainment and more vague terms such as low attainment which are generally speaking no real attainment levels and are therefore kept in square brackets [...]. Anything below master level lacks intuitions and the difference between them are generally in gu worm usage experience.
In his previous life, Fang Yuan inherited a true inheritance of the infamous Blood Sea Ancestor and became a blood path Gu Immortal who excelled in battle strength. After his rebirth, he gave up on actively cultivating this path again although his attainment in this path proved to be useful if not vital for some of his plans and actions.
Fang Yuan already had some foundation in his first life but it is only in his second life that he started to actively cultivate strength path and progressing his attainment level in it. With his Second Aperture, out of necessity at that time, he advanced to become a strength path Gu Immortal with All-Out Effort Gu (a strength path Gu) as his vital Gu. His attainment was only at quasi-master at that time and his ascension elevated it to master level.
Later on, he managed to elevate his attainment level to peak grandmaster due to absorbing Reckless Savage's true meaning.
He later stops actively cultivating strength path due to its decline in the current era as well as due to his newly acquired body that allows him to cultivate other paths.
During Hei Lou Lan's immortal ascension Fang Yuan managed to accumulate Reckless Savage's true meaning by destroying the beasts that were spawning in the form of an earthly calamity. This action allowed him to take a step on to this path.
Later on, Fang Yuan decided to actively cultivate transformation path due to the specialty of his Sovereign Immortal Aperture allowing his dao marks to coexist without interference, as well as the possibility to use Immortal Tribulation Tempering Aperture to draw out Reckless Savage's true meaning to increase his attainment level in transformation path, he has undergone tribulation in Icy Plain for a few times and achieved grandmaster attainment.
His 4th great grandmaster attainment was in this path
in a previous timeline, he annexed Beast Calamity grotto-heaven, while mentioning that he used dream realms to raise his attainment level
He can no longer use transformation since the sudden dao marks composition change can negatively impact his immortal aperture. His transformation path methods are now used by his clone Zhan Bu Du.
Fang Yuan has lived for 500 years before his rebirth, during which he accumulated the experiences of countless refinements as well as 'future' refinement techniques. One notable event in his past life was when he needed refinement materials to refine an Immortal Gu. For this, he decided to join the Refinement Path Convention for which he started preparations for over 80 years in advance, during which he spent every day, and even nights, practicing. His refinement path foundation was built during that time.
After his rebirth, he managed to refine an Immortal Gu while still being a mortal.
Later on, he made numerous deductions of remnant and incomplete Gu recipes with the help of Wisdom Gu, this action improved his refinement path attainment at a great pace. Fang Yuan's 'friendship' with Lang Ya Land Spirit and the numerous interactions with him also yielded as experiences that furthered his attainment.
Despite being previously stated that Fang Yuan is barely at master level in this path his skills are later on mentioned to be "near refinement master-level skills" and his attainment only close to master level, implying that he has not yet reached master level.(ch. 507 & 516)
Being the owner of Dang Hun Mountain allowed him to have access to an ever replenishing number of Guts Gu this, in turn, allowed him to continuously refine Gu without having to fear soul injuries, as they could be treated with Guts Gu.
Another source of refinement path attainment experiences was the act of repeatedly soul searching the souls of various Gu Immortal captives, with the help of Guts Gu to prevent their souls from dissipating.
He used wisdom path methods to search Mo Yao's will, obtaining her experiences as a grandmaster in refinement path.
Despite his high attainment in this path, Fang Yuan's actual refinement path talent is very ordinary.(ch. 838, It was then stated that he had in fact a strange talent in refinement path.
By the time he created Lingering Poisonous Ant Plague, his attainment in the nature gu refinement aspect of refinement path has exceed that of Long Hair Ancestor. [4]
Fang Yuan secretly reached supreme attainment in refinement path by thoroughly comprehending all aspect of refinement path. While he had a chance of using Primordial Realm to attain this, he had to give up on it to prevent the revived venerables from further surpressing him in Crazed Demon Cave.
This increase attainment is only confirmed after he reveal his rank 9 cultivation, which require supreme attainment as pre-requisite.
Later on he gave up on further developing refinement path and focus on heaven path due to it being too widespread and lack offensive power.[5]

After repeatedly exploring a realistic survival type dream realm scene and dying numerous times, Fang Yuan managed to stay alive until the end of the dream realm which was him being killed a final time by the immortal killer moveGrey Night by Zuo Ye Hui. After that, the dream realm vanished but Fang Yuan's dark path attainment rose from ordinary to grandmaster.
Due to his previous life's memories, Fang Yuan is in the possession of some dream path methods albeit their number being limited due to his 'blood path' exclusion in his first life, therefore only reaching up to ordinary.
He managed to create the dream path killer moveUnravel Dream which proved to be tremendously helpful in the exploration of numerous dream realms.

Fang Yuan has a lot of experience from his past life regarding enslavement path as he used to control swarms of Bladewing Blood Bat Gu, hence the (in)famous Blood Wing Demon Sect, an organization created by him in his first life.
After his rebirth, he first showed his master abilities by guiding Bai Ning Bing and later Ba Gui Land Spirit with enslavement battle tactics, while he himself was in the process of refining Second Aperture Gu.
Later on, he used his attainment in this path to impersonate Chang Shan Yin and control numerous wolf groups during his time in Northern Plains.
During his strength path cultivation, the first immortal killer move he created with his strength path grandmaster foundation was Myriad Self, followed by its first style Giant Hand. Both are the result of the combination of strength and enslavement path. This killer move proved useful in many situations.
After the Dragonman Clone explored Wu Shuai's 100 years Dream Realm to obtain Dragon Palace, his Enslavement Path Attainment skyrocketed from Master to Quasi-Supreme Grandmaster.
Fang Yuan has a lot of experience from his past life regarding different paths and their cultivation, and this is one of those, which he elevated to master level in his first life.
Fang Yuan mentioned having trouble deducing Nirvana Fire due to his fire path attainment being too low.

During Fang Yuan's lives, he encountered some formations and some formation path contents in fortuitous encounters, one of which, was the exploration of Shadow Sect's remnant Gurefinement super formation in Earth Trench. He came across some different Gu formations and commented that he would be able to set up a refinement formation albeit a superficial one due to his very low formation path attainment.
The main contents of the dream realm were Tu Shi Cheng teaching his son about formation path. His education style was brutal and harsh, using survival to forcefully stimulate his son's potential.
After passing the first two scenes of the dream realm his attainment rose to quasi-master, allowing him to gain a deeper understanding of the previously bought inheritances.
Repeatedly undergoing the deadly tutelage of Tu Shi Cheng in the dream realm Fang Yuan was forced to use Unravel Dream, which allowed him to pass the third, fourth, and fifth scene, and elevate his attainment level to master shortly followed by quasi-grandmaster. After passing the last two scenes he reached grandmaster attainment and was able to set up a formation to improve the production of Regretful Spiders in his constructed Coiling Thread Caves.
Reaches master level after he accumulated sufficient life experience for a qualitative breakthrough. This breakthrough takes the form of sudden epiphany into Human Path while he's trying to develop his variant human subordinates.
One of Fang Yuan's pursuits is to get a hold of an information path inheritance and raise his attainment to get rid of the numerous agreements that restrict most of his actions. But as of now, most of his undertakings to get one have proven fruitless.
It is mentioned that Fang Yuan annexed a light path Blessed Land which is only possible after reaching at least master-level attainment in light path, implying he has reached this level after his repeated dream realm explorations. This is, however, a mistake on the author's part as Fang Yuan's light path attainment is still at ordinary in the following chapters.[6]

Fang Yuan possesses Dang Hun Mountain and has access to Luo Po Valley, two of the three most helpful resources for soul path cultivation. He used them repeatedly to improve his soul path cultivation but did not take any apparent ways to improve his attainment which still remained at an ordinary level at that time.
After successfully exploring the only scene of Zhang Li's dream realm, Fang Yuan's attainment rose to quasi-master.
During Hei Lou Lan's immortal ascension the tribulation Heart Shocking Noise Tribulation descended after which Fang Yuan commented to have too low of a sound path attainment to effectively defend himself against it.
Although Fang Yuan inherited many sword path Immortal Gu from Bo Qing which he started to use frequently, his attainment in sword path is almost nonexistent.

Despite having refined Spring Autumn Cicada, Fang Yuan's time path attainment was only ordinary. His goal since his rebirth was to become a time path Gu Immortal, even after becoming a strength path Gu Immortal he never gave up this pursuit.
He managed to obtain a complete time path inheritance of Hei Fan, a rank 8 Gu Immortal. But his attainment did not increase with this.
Fang Yuan entered the dream realm of a rank 4 time path Gu Master Bai Lian, which was previously a part of the giant dream realm and passed it after successfully treating Meng Bi. He achieved this attainment level after one scene.
Fang Yuan entered a rank 6 time path Gu Immortal's dream realm and had to learn to use two time path killer moves and defeat a rank 7 enemy with it. After three scenes he was successful and achieved this attainment level.
During the construction and activation of a formation based on the four basic elements (fire, water, wind, earth), Fang Yuan faced many failed attempts, aside from the unfamiliarity of the extinct Gu at that time his wind path attainment was also only ordinary.
His 3rd/4th grandmaster attainment was in this path (together with star path).
In the five hundred years of his previous life, he had undergone turmoil, torture, glory, falling from grace, all of these had turned him into a strategist, he was adept at plotting against people, this made Fang Yuan very compatible with the cultivation of wisdom path.
His wisdom path attainment was ordinary at best until he came into contact with Star Constellation Immortal Venerable's dream realm, inside a fragment of Starry Sky grotto-heaven, after which his attainment jumped to quasi-master shortly followed by master and grandmaster after a few explorations.
Later on his attainment increased a small increment after successfully exploring the only scene of Zhang Li's dream realm.
Due to his wisdom path grandmaster attainment, he was able to create formations to use Wisdom Gu much more efficiently.
Fang Yuan wanted to modify the desolate plant Light Shine Fungi and mentioned being confident in this matter despite his ordinary attainment in this path. (Due to Shadow Sect's various inheritances and Wisdom Gu's light of wisdom he was able to make the necessary modifications.)
He extorted Southern Border's righteous path, asking for wood path related dream realms.
These wood path dream realms were of no difficulty to Fang Yuan who was already the number one person in the world in terms of experience in exploring dream realms.
